DIY Outdoor Solar Chandelier

When we moved into our new home the builder provided us with a shiny brass chandelier in our dining area. Not our personal type of decor element however I decided to keep it anyway with the intention of re-purposing it in the future. Just shy of 4 years later and I finally dug it out of our garage to make an outdoor chandelier that would keep money in the bank and serve as a beautiful fixture to accompany our outdoor space.

This minimalist do it yourself (DIY) light fixture is super easy to make and really beautiful. Truth is, you can probably pick up one of these standard chandeliers at any thrift shop for under $5. A little black outdoor spray paint and some solar lawn lights I picked up at the local dollarstore for $2 each and there you have it, a decor piece that is sure to make your neighbours green with envy.

Tools:

  • small saw to cut
  • tacky glue
  • glue gun
  • lawn solar lights ($2)
  • chandelier
  • outdoor spray paint

Tip:

Cut the base of the solar light at about 1 inch with a saw and then use tacky glue to adhere the chrome end to the light. Place the chrome end into the chandelier base and hot glue gun the entire piece to the cup at the base.
