My family and I have been Canada’s Wonderland ambassadors for many years now, but what is more important is that we have also been members of the park for years before that. When I was little we’d visit with my parents annually, and as a teen my very first job was at Canada’s Wonderland. The park has been a huge part of making memories ever since I can remember. One of the things that we revisit upon park opening every year is indulging in their famous funnel cakes. Funnel cakes have become a staple for park visits as well as a way to celebrate with the family. Year after year, we simply cannot resist the deliciousness of that strawberry drizzle over warm doughy goodness.
This year, with COVID19 happening it seems that we will not be indulging in funnel cake deliciousness at the park. The season has been put on hold but Canada’s Wonderland was gracious enough to share their famous recipe with us to enjoy at home. To be honest it looked overwhelming at first but after seeing a few fellow WonderCrew members take a go at it, I thought why not try it for myself.

I originally tried to squeeze the batter out of a spout but I found it was best when I slowly poured it out into the hot oil. You have to get the hang of it and try it out for yourself but boy were they good! Definitely making again, this could get addictive. Top with your favorite toppings – chocolate drizzle, strawberries or ice cream! My favorite is classic powdered sugar. So good!
Canada’s Wonderland has been so generous, they have also extended their season for pass holders into next year. If you have purchased a pass, then you may want to read all about the changes here. Sadly, we have put the season on hold but it seems that Canada’s Wonderland has done a fantastic job at keeping the excitement alive. Can’t wait to return when it re-opens.
