Late nights without my husband at home (he works nights) has prompted me to cheat on him, not by choice but because I just can’t stop! Initially, when we got Netflix we would watch shows together, snuggle and wait for one another until the next episode or season would come out…lately, I just don’t have the will power to wait!
I don’t mean to cheat, it simply just happens – usually followed by guilt, sore eyes and a whole lot of wanting more!
At first it started off with the introduction to Narcos, a show I normally would not watch with my husband, let alone by myself. Then it happened, watched 2 episodes with the hubs and instantly got hooked. Skip ahead 1 week and I was done, I had finished the entire thing without him! I watched while folding clothes, bathing, cooking and even while my husband slept beside me – headphones and a tablet really are the biggest cheating tool when it comes to streaming on demand. I can’t wait for a new season to return, sadly my husband has only made it to the second episode though…guess I will have to continue this affair without him lol.
I think I may be a serial cheater – since then I have streamed SO many shows he intended on watching with me like Santa Clarita Diet, Jane The Virgin and Suits, starting to think that I may need some counselling!
Netflix uncovered that 46% of global viewers are cheating right now… with their favourite Netflix shows.
Over a third (37%) of Canadians streaming couples are watching behind each other’s backs. While 76% of Canucks don’t plan to cheat, they say “the shows are just so good we can’t stop bingeing.” Cheating has become more socially acceptable in Canada, with 57% saying it’s “not bad at all.” Unless of course, the other half of the 7% of streaming couples who think watching ahead is worse than having an “actual” affair.
Think you haven’t been cheated on? Think again!
No question about it, I know I definitely fall into the long distance cheater profile – no wonder Mr Escobar is on this profile! Although my husband is not out of town, he is hardly home to watch TV with me at night when the kids are off to bed. Technically he is out of our ‘town’ at work, but more often than not I am streaming without him and that makes me the ‘long distance cheater.’ I’m surprised only 28% of people fall in this category, where else would someone look to for comfort when their partner is away? LOL
Sadly, I know my affair will not end and I think I may have passed on the cheating gene (is that even possible?) to my children. We recently started to watch One Day at A Time and suddenly they are 3 episodes ahead of me! Oh no! I feel like I have been violated!
Happy Streaming – remember if you are gonna cheat, at least cover your tracks 😉
