When you look at the most recent cover of People Magazine’s Most Beautiful issue I can’t help but notice that it is different then the issues that came before it. It’s evolved, the middle boasts an imperfect accomplished singer Pink along side her adorable children – vastly odd considering the previous ones were adorned by Photoshopped versions of thought of celebrities who stood alone and graced the covers like ornaments to the type set along side them.
Pink is mom to her two kids Jameson Moon, 15 months, and Willow Sage, 6½, with husband Carey Hart and often chronicles her life via social media. Admittedly I am intrigued, she seems to have an effortless way of putting everyday thoughts out there – thoughts we’ve all pondered at some point and I tend to eat it all up one post at a time. Each and every time she does this, I can’t help but think to myself how much I’d love to have her as a personal friend and how her children would just mesh into my own children’s lives.
We’ve chosen to raise our own two boys to become whomever they are destined to become, without parental stereotypes or judgements. What I want to tell her is that it gets easier, and my children are older and amazing people as a result of this type of mentality. They are strong individuals with very different approaches to life despite what we have accepted them to become – they will be direct reflections of it and make remarkable adults one day.
I am proud.
At times though, this has been hard because the reality of it is the world is still not ready for flawed perfection. What I have to say to Pink (like she’d ever read this) is that she is assisting in world change- even if it is attained in tiny footprints to a finish line in the future. My boys and I are thankful.
The fact that Pink appears before us and still maintains her personal sense of self is all around perfection to me. To come so far and not give into the pressures of Hollywood or the lifestyle intended for someone of her stature is amazing to me. Love the fact that the cover showcases her imperfections (because we all have them) like her crooked bottom tooth as well as her support system along side her – to be frank those are the exact things that make her beautiful in my opinion.
