Most scientists agree that the existing research is tenuous. Placenta is known to contain high levels of iron, vitamin B-12, and certain hormones—a fact activists cite as proof of its nutritional value—but there is no conclusive study linking, for example, the iron in a placenta to increased strength in a new mother. -New York Magazine

Recently, placenta capsulation has become a big trend among Hollywood celebrities. Since Mad Men star January Jones admitted to taking these supplements to fight off fatigue and help promote healthy healing of her after-birth body.

“Your placenta gets dehydrated and made into vitamins,” she explains. “It’s something I was very hesitant about, but we’re the only mammals who don’t ingest our own placentas.” Jones told PEOPLE Magazine.

So how does this work?  The growing trend among new mothers involves eating the after-birth placenta. This system is called “placentophagia” and is referred to as, either dehydrated placenta or in placenta in a pill form. These processes cost hundreds of dollars to maintain per month. Mothers nation-wide are spending you money and fully partaking in this practice.

So what do you think? Since eating your placenta is a common practice in other areas of the world, would you consider this?

“Welcome to the World Luca Cruz Comrie! Tuesday evening, we became proud parents of a healthy 7 pound 6 ounce beautiful boy,” Hilary Tweeted. This is the first child for Hilary (24) and husband Mike Comrie (31) retired hockey player.

The couple married in 2010.What's fascinating to me is that Hollywood tends to come up with unusual or different monikers for their children, why did Hilary take the 'safe' route. I would have expected young celebrities with more diverse names for their children, seems the older celebs tend to go that route. What do you think of the name?
